Many Jehovah’s witnesses get their views of Christianity from the Watchtower, which is like asking Apple for reviews on Microsoft products – unreliable. This series is not meant convince, just to inform Jehovah’s witnesses of what most Christians actually believe about different topics. This part takes up the name Jehovah.

Simply put, Christians know about the name of God, YHWH, rendered Jehovah, Yahweh, Yahuwah or similar. It’s not a secret and knowing about God’s name is not unique in any way.

Then why do they not use it all the time?

Christians believe that the name YHWH applies to God, that is the triune Godhead consisting of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. However the Bible is a progressive book and in the New Testament all the prophecies about YHWH’s salvation are fulfilles in Yah-Shua (meaning Yah’s salvation) commonly known as Jesus.

Hence they know that Jesus is Jehovah because Jesus is God (one of the persons of God, hence fully a God the same way as the Father.)

Furthermore many scriptures like shows that Christians should focus on the name of Jesus. One example is Philippians 2:9-11:

Philippians 2:9-11 9 For this very reason, God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name, 10 so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend—of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground—11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

Notice that the name of Jesus is above every other name. Every other includes the name of Jehovah.

Thus by worshiping and glorifying Jesus, Christians also worship Jehovah and glorify the name Jehovah.
